- There are over 100 species of Carrots.
- The name Carrot comes from the Greek word "karoton". The beta-carotene that is found in carrots is actually named for the Carrot itself.
- The biggest Carrot ever recorded is more then 19 pounds and the longest is over 19 feet.

The small, round and orange roots rarely get any higher than 3 cm. The carrot's popularity is caused by it's low water and soil needs. Atlas is a great carrot for a quick snack, or in salads. Steamed, they are ideal as a side vegetable. |
